"Le

This is the reason why Suvereto became the first free city-state of the northern Maremma in 1201. The old town has kept its historical and artistic features: If you walk through the lanes of the village, you can still feel the typical atmosphere of the past centuries. The hill of Suvereto is dominated by Aldobrandeschi fortress, dated back before the 10th century, the walls and the towers around the village. The town hall is dated back to the 13th century and is famous for its particular entrance, a porch called “loggiato dei giudici” (giudici means “judges”), because in the Middle Age the local judges passed here their sentences.
